PCem relies on a dynamic recompiler for fast performance, and emulation speed depends on how a particular game utilizes the emulated CPU. With one game, I might be able to run it on a PII-450 at 100% speed (and still room to go higher), while another game might max out at 100% CPU time on a PII-300. Some tips, tricks, and other observations:Įmulation performance depends entirely on the game/software being run. I’m mostly interested in the upper end of PCem performance. I am still testing things out so I’m probably missing a lot.īy the way, my main host PC is an i7-12700, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3060, Windows 11.

There are a lot of tricks to PCem that I’ve discovered by reading various things online. Like a lot of people here, I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of trying to measure and optimize performance. I’m a relatively new user of PCem and absolutely love it.
